Yes I am!
I know I haven't been posting lately but I've been pretty busy with school and other things. I've barely had time to read, I'm so glad summer vacation starts one week from today. Then there will be plenty of time for writing, reading, and just being on LRRH. *sigh of happiness*
I did just finish Nobody's Princess, I thought it was very good, but different from what I expected. I'm too lazy to do a real review...I'll be getting the second one though. What I'm really annoyed with is I ordered two books from amazon about two weeks ago and my mom just checked the order yesterday and found they won't even be shipping for another week! My gosh! Why me? And even worse my brother got one of the books this weekend at Barnes and Noble and is taunting me about how good it was. Grr. I love the Sisters Grimm books, WHY?
Yeah...also my friend put together the videos from our choir trip to Corpus Christi if any of you want to watch them, it was April 11, 12, and the 13th.
Well Goodbye,
hopefully I'll be writing again soon. :)

The Battle of the Labyrinth

The Battle of the Labyrinth
by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson isn’t expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse.
In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos’s army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop the invasion, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth–a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn. Full of humor and heart-pounding action, this latest book promises to be their most thrilling adventure yet.
First off I'd like to say that I love this series. Probably my favorite "fun books"; they are exactly what I like to read when I'm tired and just want something fun and easy to read. They are also great "rainy day books", and "comfort books". Okay...maybe they are just great books all around.
And yes, I know they are more of a kid book, but that doesn't stop me, since the books are just as thrilling and exciting as any young adult book would be. You can also learn so much about greek mythology by reading them, and you don't even have to pull out the old textbook. Rick Riordan makes it so much fun to read about mythology!
This latest book was just as great and the others, and if you want to take my advice...you should go get the series and read it right now.

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles
by Patricia C. Wrede
I really enjoyed this series. My favorites were the second and fourth; though they were all really good. They were a light, fun read that kept you anticipating what would happen next. Very exciting. If you are a fan of dragon books, you must read these.

1. I watched Cinderella every single day when I was 3, and dressed up like her. And when I was 4, I did the same with The Little Mermaid. My little brother was forced to be Flounder.
2. I really liked rolling down hills. There was this big one in Solvang, California that I especially loved.
3. My first grade teacher didn't let us read chapter books, so I rebelled because I though I was smart enough to read Ramona even if she didn't think so. I was.
4. I used to act out stories when I was little almost like I was in my own movie, and I did the same with my dolls.
5. I wrote letters to Santa and the Tooth Fairy. I finally figured out the Tooth Fairy wasn't real. Her handwriting happened to look like my dad's. Santa never replied. Oh woe.

The Runaway Princess

The Runaway Princess
by Kate Coombs
“A dragon darkens our dells. A witch haunts our woods. Bandits roam our moors” . . . King Stromgard swept on. “In the tradition of so many monarchs, I offer my daughter’s hand in marriage and half my kingdom to the prince who can rid us of these evils, restoring peace and prosperity to our realm.”
And so the contest in the Kingdom of Greeve begins. But Princess Margaret is not your traditional princess. Meg firmly objects to her parents’ giving her away, and she certainly has no intention of remaining in the tower where she is sequestered. Instead, she sets out to win the contest herself by enlisting the help of her good friend, her loyal maid, an eager guardsman, a young wizard, and a tenacious witch. Does Meg find her distinct place in the kingdom, or is she doomed to fulfill her royal duties?
Kate Coombs weaves a magical tale full of pesky princes, enchanted frogs, a beady-eyed scarf, and invisibility juice – a tale of wonder, but a story familiar to all who struggle to find their own place in the world.
A great book. It is in the childrens section, and it falls more under that age group, but I still couldn't put it down. It was filled with action and excitement. I loved the little quirks and jokes in the book that brought the modern age into the fairy tale. I laughed aloud many times while reading this book, and I was caught into the plot. There is little romance, but you expect that since it's a childrens book.

Zel

Zel
by Donna Jo Napoli
Based on the fairy tale Rapunzel, the story is told in alternating chapters from the point of view of Zel, her mother, and the nobleman who pursues her, and delves into the psychological motivations of each of the characters.
I enjoyed reading this tale with all its twists on the original tale. When she is locked away in the tower, there is some inappropriateness. But I think the author is just trying to portray her insanity, and how she deals with being locked away. The love wasn't as strong or as well written as I would have hoped, but I did like the plot and the overall story.

Six Random Things
Tagged by Q
1. I can't focus that well when I'm listening to music, I get too into it. So I never read, write, or do schoolwork while listening to music.
2. I don't form images of characters when I read, I only have a basic idea of what they look like. I do however visualize the places.
3. My favorite fruit is strawberries.
4. I was born in Beaufort, South Carolina.
5. Writing calms me and sometimes makes me cry for no reason.
6. I drink a lot of water, like more than the 8, 8 oz. glasses sometimes.
